Being a Bus Engineer is about more than just fixing engines; it’s about solving puzzles and mastering the technology of tomorrow.
Engineers are the backbone of Go-Ahead. You’ll dive deep into complex mechanical and electrical systems, from stripping down a massive diesel engine to diagnosing software in a state-of-the-art electric bus.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on job that’s constantly evolving. You’ll develop transferrable skills that will set you up for life, with clear pathways to move into senior technician roles or even management. Plus, you’ll be supported by mentors who started exactly where you are now and know how to help you succeed.

Before you head into the garage, we make sure you’re ready for the challenge. Your journey begins with an intensive 8-week block at one of Go-Ahead’s state-of-the-art Engineering Academies.
Next, here at S&B Automotive Academy we provide a mix of classroom theory and real-world workshop experience.
If you don't live near an Engineering Academy, don’t worry. Go-Ahead fully fund your travel, high-quality accommodation, and meals while you’re training.
You’ll get to use the latest tools and diagnostic systems in a safe, controlled environment, and you’ll have full-time mentors by your side to guide and help you transition into your local garage team.

We’re looking for people with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for engineering.
You’ll need GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English, Maths, and a Science-related subject.
You should be a problem-solver who enjoys working in a team and has a basic grip on IT.
